DuPont™ Tyvek® Cargo Covers

DuPont™ Tyvek® Cargo Covers offer advanced protection for pharmaceuticals, perishables and temperature-sensitive products during shipment. DuPont™ Tyvek® Cargo Covers are specifically engineered to address the threat of cold chain breaks during transit, when these products in shipment are at the greatest risk for temperature excursions.

Material Concepts is a leading authorized supplier of DuPont™ Tyvek® Cargo Covers in North America, offering Cargo Covers made with DuPont™ Tyvek® for sale, offering the three Tyvek® Cargo Covers products:

Managing the risk of temperature excursions throughout the cold chain and protecting products against ambient temperature extremes is important. Solar radiation may be the most critical and under-appreciated threat. Solar radiation is the leading cause of high-temperature spikes on the tarmac. DuPont™ Tyvek® Cargo Covers provide excellent "all-in-one" protection against the threats of solar radiation and extreme ambient temperatures.

Tyvek® Cargo Covers leverage the unique combination of properties inherent to Tyvek® including:

  • Excellent protection against temperature excursions - the high reflectance plus low emissivity of Tyvek® shields the products in shipment from heat when exposed to solar radiation (the #1 cause of high temperature spikes), while its low thermal conductivity dampens the effects of both hot and cold temperature extremes.
  • Breathable protection - prevents trapped heat from damaging products and allows moisture and gases such as carbon dioxide to vent, lowering the probability of condensation damage.
  • Physical barrier protection - protects product against physical threats such as rain, snow, airborne contamination and bird droppings.
  • Security - the white, opaque cover shields cargo from view and are inherently tamper-evident.

Benefits of Using DuPont™ Tyvek® Cargo Covers

Tangible benefits of using Tyvek® Cargo Covers include:

  • Save money - reduce costs associated with product loss
  • Ease of use - install and remove quickly and easily
  • Simple design - lightweight, no training required and no return logistics
  • Physical barrier protection: protects product against physical threats such as rain, snow, airborne contamination and bird droppings.
  • Brand protection - Tamper evident and opaque nature of Tyvek® offers an enhanced level of shipment security that protect the brand.

DuPont™ Tyvek® Cargo Covers for Shipping Pharmaceuticals

DuPont™ Tyvek® Cargo Covers are specifically engineered to address the threat of cold chain breaks during air transit and have been validated in a wide variety of applications by pharmaceutical manufacturers worldwide. These include applications subject to the newly revised European Union (EU) Good Distribution Practices (GDP) guidelines, specifically for products in the Controlled Room Temperature (CRT) category (15°C -25°C). DuPont™ Tyvek® Cargo Covers for pharmaceutical products help reduce the supply chain risk associated with transporting temperature-sensitive products by significantly dampening temperature spikes resulting from solar radiation and ambient temperature extremes during the times when products are most vulnerable - during temporary breaks in the cold chain that occur as part of the air transit process. Designed to meet the specific needs of the pharmaceutical industry, DuPont™ Tyvek® Cargo Covers for pharmaceuticals provide hours of additional protection by substantially lowering peak product temperatures, compared to competitive products such as metalized bubble wrap. DuPont™ Tyvek® Cargo Covers for pharmaceutical products are low emissivity covers and should be used with the metallized side facing inward.

DuPont™ Tyvek® Cargo Covers for Shipping Perishables

DuPont Tyvek Cargo Covers protect perishables in transit

DuPont™ Tyvek® Cargo Covers are used for shipping perishables such as fruits, vegetables and flowers. The breathable cover protects against multiple threats, including temperature and pest infestation. Using a DuPont™ Tyvek® Cargo Cover significantly reduces spoilage rates, improves yield and shelf life, and is USDA approved for fumigation.

DuPont™ Tyvek® Cargo Cover Product Details and Installation

DuPont™ Tyvek® Cargo Covers can be configured two ways: DuPont Tyvek Cargo Covers - 1 piece and 2 piece products

  • One piece, top cover only
  • Two pieces, top cover and base
Note: the Tyvek® Cargo Cover will provide optimal temperature protection when used with a Tyvek® base. It is preferable from a temperature protection perspective to use a Tyvek® base - it will protect the load from any heat coming up from the tarmac and will also protect from other contaminants or even rain.

Standard cover sizes reflect standard cargo sizes, such as: Euro and UK/US pallets, ULD PMC, PAG, AKE, LD3, etc.

Tyvek® Xtreme™ W50 Cargo Cover Product Details

DuPont Tyvek Xtreme W50 Cargo Cover on pallet.

Fitted with a proprietary insulative layer, Tyvek® Xtreme™ W50 retains the reflective and permeability characteristics of Tyvek® while extending both its hot and cold temperature performance span. The result is a product that can be used as a stand-alone barrier in CRT categories where there is a need for frost as well as heat protection, and also as a supplementary component in packaging systems for "cold temperature" products

By combining high reflectivity with a high efficiency thermal layer, the new cover performs as both a radiant shield and a conduction barrier. Also, it has been engineered to be vapor permeable yet fully weather-resistant, allowing protected pallets to evacuate condensation by "breathing" whilst providing dependable protection from rain, snow and wind.

Terminology Note

Tyvek® Cargo Covers is the new name for this DuPont™ product; it was previously called Tyvek® Air Cargo Covers.
